Mr. Campbell is a native Californian who grew in Carmel and moved to San Francisco when he was 20. While in the city he played in bands in the local bars and hit the road for many tours on both the west and east coast. Some of the these bands were: the Shalants, Casual Dolphins, Mantra, My Revolver, The Flagpoles, a stint with the Blank Tapes, Sean Smith, and Slow Motion Cowboy. Some favorite bars and venues he played were: the hemlock, space gallery, the hotel utah, and simple pleasure's in san francisco and the mollusk surf shop, zebulon, and pete's candy store in brooklyn.
Taking his brand of california soul to the stage; music brought him to photography and the passion for travel. Documenting excursions and the characters of the world became a hobby and another voice of expression for the lad. During this time Nick worked for PDX cabinets learning many woodworking skills. These skills would later lead him to New York for a year where he played with the Shalants and worked for high-end residential cabinetmaker Nic Berry. And just as the stones are followed one at time on the path; carpentry led to metalworking and the art of patina. Opportunity opened up and Nick took an apprenticeship at Conceptual Metal Works in San Francisco for a year and a half. There he learned to M.I.G weld, patina steel, and milling practices.
Nick eventually returned home in his 30's and has returned to a long dormant passion in theater. Since returning home in 2015 he has worked as a carpenter on 7 shows for MPC, PRT, and RLS and has worked as Assistant Stage Manager and Sound Board Operator. Since returning he has also built a moon room out of old windows and doors and began production on one a kind light boxes.
